Teams
The SRLC is interested in providing the lacrosse experience to as many players as possible, regardless of age and gender. Most often once the club adds a team, as in last year when we added U11, the team is expected to become a permanent part of the club. So far, we've only been able to attract enough interest in boys teams but we are open to girls if the interest and support is there.
Adding a new team to our club takes considerable resources. We must first have the interest and the support before we'll officially add the team and enter it into the NCJLA. Coaching is difficult to find as the sport is budding and ex-players are just now getting into giving back to the sport as they graduate from college and high school. Girls coaches are especially rare. If a solid group of players wants to play, and we don't already field that age level, it will take finding a coach and a few parents to share in the work load of putting the team together.
For 2011 we are planning on fielding Varsity, JV, U11 and U13. We may possibly have a U15 and we are very interested in doing so, but it will take some parents to step into the club leadership. Help is needed with recruiting and organizing. We will likely need to find another field for practices and will need a Team Parent for the U15 team.
