Bronze Team The Varsity squad lost to Petaluma in the semi-finals 14-10 but came back on day two to beat Chico 10-8 to take the Bronze medal and third place.
March 8/9 The juniors had two games this weekend. They had only 11 players at Mendo and lost 9-1. The lone goal was scored by Steven Crase. In the second game, Rosa lost to a skilled Ross Valley team 13-1.
JV played two games in Yuba City and came away with two losses, 7-2 and 7-3. It was good to see them score their first goals.
March 5 Petaluma came to Santa Rosa for a JV/Varsity match up under the lights. The JV, playing their first game lost 10-0. Patrick Littrel, playing with only two days practice in goal, made 11 saves.
The varsity game was a different story. Riding a 5 goal difference most of the way, the Rosa Varsity team played a great game winning 10-7. Ross Tucker scored 5 goals, Cole Seitz and Jordan Kunde each added 2 and Andrew Collins put one in the cage. Gus Peters had an amazing game in goal making some crazy saves to keep the lead.
March 2 The junior high team started off with a tough loss to SF, 18-0. Goalie Evan Frostick broke a bone his hand and will be out for awhile. But, the team bounced back in a second game and beat Palega 6-1 for the first EVER juniors team victory. Matt Gibson led Rosa with 3 goals.
In a varsity game in Ukiah, Santa Rosa started the season off right with a victory 12-4. The defense played really well and the offense was rolling with great passing and consistant play. Cole Seitz and Ross Tucker each scored 4 goals and Jordan Kunde added 2 goals and 3 assists.

April 26 Mendo Game II. The team practiced hard this week and felt ready to take on Mendo, a team heading into the playoffs. SR came out strong and stayed with Mendo in the first half. After a 5-5 score at halftime, SR could only score one more goal in the second half and went on to lose 11-6. Ross Tucker, continuing his scoring streak, scored 4 goals to lead SR.
April 22 Once again, missing several middies, SR had a hard time getting into the game. Down 7-1 at half, the guys pulled it together in the second half and fought back to tie the game. Ross Tucker, once again, provided the fireworks with 4 goals. SR had a chance to score in the final seconds but came up short in a 9-8 loss. A very good showing in the second half. Cole Seitz added 2 goals and 2 assist. Evan Brown played well in goal subbing for Cameron Scally.
April 21 With only 5 middies, the team started out cold. First half was played poorly and at half time the score was 11-1 Oak Ridge. The second half was a different story as SR went on a run to make it more fun. Ross Tucker scored 4 goals.
April 5 The Icemen missing 3 of their first 6 middies played with a lot of heart. With the score 7-7 in the 4th quarter, two penalties cost us a few goals and playing to turn the ball over in the final couple minutes costs a couple more. SR lost 11-7 but most of the game was close and fun. Ross Tucker, continued his scoring rampage with 5 goals.
March 31, Apr. 1 The SRLC lost two games this weekend. On Saturday the West Valley Redhawks, the best team in the league, came to Santa Rosa and won 17-3. On Sunday the SRLC hosted City LC of San Francisco and lost 11-5. We were down 7-1 at half and came out fired up in the second half. We battled back with 4 unanswered goals by Ross Tucker to cut it to 7-5 but City answered back two two goals. In the 4th quarter, SR didn't score and City added two more goals.
First Win The Icemen picked up the first win of the season against Ukiah 12-4. The game was played on the turf field at night at Santa Rosa High. Evan Bertolli recieved the game ball after getting a lot of loose balls and scoring two goals.
Good Game, Bad Game The SRLC travelled to Palo Alto for a pair of games on March 24th. In the first game against Granite Bay, one of the top teams in the league, SR played well and surprised GB with a close 5-4 loss. It was probably the best game of the year for us. Unfortuneatly, we followed it up with our worst game of the season. We ended up losing to Monterey 18-5 in the second game in which it seemed nothing would go right for us.
First Game The club dropped their first game of the season against the San Jose Vipers 9-4. After being tied at half 3-3, we could not generate much offense in the second half. Penalties killed us as we spent a good portion of the game man down. There were 11 penalties in all for a total of 10 minutes.
Scrimmage vs. Petaluma On Tuesday, Feb 20, we scrimmaged the Petaluma JV team in Petaluma. After a shaky first quarter where the score was 2-2, the SRLC got into the flow again, pulling away with a victory. Score was not kept but the important thing was to get the new players some experience and get our offensive and defensive units working together.
Season Begins: We started on Jan. 29th with fewer players than anticipated and will field only a varsity team again.

The Mendo Battle: The Mendo/SRLC battle was revived as SRLC won 14-13 in a game that saw several lead changes. Down 4-1 in the first quarter, SR battled back with a 2 goal lead in the fourth. Mendo came back and scored two goals in a matter of 30 seconds with just under 2 minutes left to tie it. Gus Peters scored the game winner with under 1:30 and the defense held on for the win. Gus scored 5 goals and 2 assists, Ross Tucker had 4 goals.
Sat 4/29 split: The team bounced back after the Rancho game and beat Morgan Hill 14-9. After a slow 1st quarter, the team put it together with Gus Peters and Ross Tucker combining for several goals. Gus had 6 goals and 3 assists and Ross had 3 goals and 3 assists. Cole Seitz had his best game of the season with 3 goals and an assist. Gus got game ball.
The second game was much tougher. Playing back to back games and only having two lines of middies proved to be very difficult in the second half of the second game. After scoring 7 goals in the first half, SRLC managed only 1 in the second. Unfortunately, Cole Seitz suffered a broken clavical and will miss the final week of the season. Don't worry Cole, we'll get the last two games for you!
